Scientifically named Artocarpus heterophyllus, the Jackfruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world. It is commonly used as a staple food (alternative to rice) in Sri Lanka. For those looking for a plant-based alternative to meat, Jack-of- all-fruits is becoming more popular around the world. When the Jackfruit is cut in half, bright yellow pods (when ripe) appear which can be eaten raw or cooked. The ripe fruit has a strong, sweet, fruity smell. Its neutral flavor is ideal for all kinds of seasonings and can be used in a variety of cuisines.
Controls Blood Sugar
Jackfruit has a relatively low glycemic index (GI) which means it slows digestion and helps prevent blood sugar spikes.
Boosts Immune System
Rich in antioxidants like Vitamin C, Jackfruit is helpful in preventing the development of several chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes.
The high amount of beta-carotene in Jackfruit breaks down to Vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant that is specifically linked to maintaining a good eyesight and slowing the onset of cataracts.
Encompasses anti-aging properties
Jackfruit possesses anti-aging properties which provides skin radiance and protects damaged skin caused by sun exposure and treats wrinkles.
